We're Winning!

Claire posted about the fact that we freshmen are 12% finished with college (those of us who're going for four years, anyhow). Well, for some reason I got a tremendous boost of energy from reading that! 12% isn't a lot if you think of it only in those terms, but you know me...

I think that what happened is that I took that 12% and turned it into a different fraction. 1/8. That seems much more productive and not so far to go. It might just be me, but this past semester feels like it went by really fast. It felt slow at the time, yes ... but its in the past now. Its just a beautiful memory.

And what a memory it has been turned into!!! We all had so many adventures together, and now I have so many stories thatcame from that semester. The first day of Orientation when we were still trying to get each other's names down (I called Josiah Tim and thought Tyler Abens was Ty Knight! Haha!), the first math class when Megan asked Dr. Stokes to call her Bertha, the Nuart Block Party (the Afters!!), the weekend party at Jonathan's house, the freshmen ice skating party, me falling asleep in class and taking random notes, the girls from the A class going to Bucers every Friday afternoon, Dane's surprise party, the Schwandt boys' epic movie, the Thanksgiving brunch at Meg's house, my accident(go me!), the choir concert, caroling in friendship square, the Nicea Term Rhetoric final (I definitely won't be forgetting this one), and the first snow of Winter. And that's just naming some of the awesome things that happened!

Sure, we've got seven more semesters to go before we're done ... but that's it. Only seven more. And only three of them will be with those classmates of ours who're going for their AA. Time is precious, and it never stops happening. If we screw up today, tomorrow is going to come no matter what. Straighten it out, get over it, and enjoy what you learned from it!

Our years here at New Saint Andrews are a blessing, no matter how hard the work is. We're being built up into the kind of people we'll be for the rest of our lives. The things we learn here, now, are the things we'll take away with us after we graduate. So don't feel discouraged, friends! We're halfway done with our freshman year. How cool is that?! Just remember, we're so blessed to be students of New Saint Andrews, to study under the professors we do, and to be learning the things we are.

And in the battle to finish strong, we're winning.

"And as long as we live, time passes by! And we won't get it back when we die!"

All the stupid stuff, all the memories, the adventures, the pain, the tears, the wins, the loses. They make us who we are, and I for one, wouldn't change that for the world!
